History

The Lotus Esprit S2 was a sports car produced by Lotus from 1978 to 1981. One of the most interesting examples of this model was the press car, which was personally owned and used by Lotus founder Colin Chapman.

Chapman‘s Esprit S2 was finished in an eye-catching gold metallic paint scheme, and it was fitted with a number of special features and upgrades. For example, it had unique seats with an embroidered Lotus logo, as well as a custom instrument panel that included a boost gauge and other performance-oriented readouts.

In addition to its unique features, the press car was used by Chapman for a number of promotional events and media appearances. As a result, it was often photographed and featured in various automotive magazines and publications.

The Esprit S2 was powered by a 2.0-liter inline-four engine that produced around 160 horsepower. The car‘s lightweight fiberglass body and aerodynamic design made it incredibly fast and nimble, with a top speed of around 135 mph.
