History

The Lotus JPS Powerboat is a unique and rare high-performance boat that was created by Lotus Engineering in collaboration with the John Player Special (JPS) cigarette brand. The powerboat was designed to reflect the iconic black and gold livery of the Lotus F1 cars of the era.

The Lotus JPS Powerboat features a sleek and aerodynamic hull design by Veiden that is reminiscent of the Lotus sports cars. The boat is powered by a Johnson outboard motor that deliver up to 300 horsepower, which enables it to reach speeds of over 135 miles per hour.

The boat became famous in 1982 when Bob Spalding raced against Nigel Mansell in a Lotus 87 which Mansell won in a glimpse of a second.

The Lotus JPS Powerboat is considered a rare and collectible boat, with only a few known examples in existence.
